They call me many things now.
Most of them earned.
But long before charts were clean and bottles wore labels...
Before spirits were softened for landfolk tongues,
I sailed with fire at my side and bitterness in my kit.
Because sweetness alone will lie to you.
Born Bitter
Out there... past the shoals, past the easy ports...
you learn quickly that bitterness is not a flaw.
It is a warning.
It is balance.
It is what keeps a man sharp when the sea turns quiet and dangerous.
We didn’t sweeten our spirits to forget.
We tempered them to remember.
Roots. Barks. Peels. Seeds.
Dragged from distant coasts and dried in salt wind.
Measured not by spoons... but by instinct.
That’s where the Born Bitter creed came from.
Bitters weren’t garnish.
They were the spine of the drink.

Fire On The Water
Every ship has a heart.
Ours burned.
In the galley, flame was never careless.
Too much fire spoils the ration.
Too little leaves it lifeless.
Smoke was coaxed... Not unleashed.
Held in the glass just long enough to wake the spirit, then gone.
